Brazilian Waxing |
||||||||||||||||||||
Here’s everything you ever wanted to know about Brazilian waxes, but were too afraid to ask...Rest assured, you’re in good hands: *rubywaxx* pioneered the Brazilian wax in Auckland, and as the New Zealand Brazilian Queen, has performed thousands of Brazilians! The *rubywaxx* Brazilian wax guarantee:
Brazilian wax FAQs What is a Brazilian wax? A Brazilian wax is an extreme bikini wax: all the hair underneath is removed, and most of (or all) the wax on the front. What’s the appeal? The number one reason why people have Brazilian waxes is that it hugely improves your sex life. Not only will your partner love it, but it also gives you increases sensitivity and enjoyment. Just having a Brazilian wax will make you feel naughty! You can wear skimpy lingerie and swimwear without fear of pubes escaping, plus most people also feel a lot cleaner and more hygienic without hair down there. If you’ve been shaving your pubic area, you’ll also enjoy not having stubble or a rash from your razor. Why is the Brazilian wax so popular? The Brazilian wax has actually been around for quite a while, in the porn world but also popular with catwalk models and celebrities. Why? Pubes showing underneath swim wear or skimpy clothes just isn’t a good look. It wasn’t until an episode of “Sex and the City” in which the girls got a Brazilian (and their sex lives went through the roof) that the trend spread and became mainstream. Does it hurt? As much as we’d like to say it doesn’t hurt, it does. The first Brazilian wax will be the most painful, as there’s the most hair, and it will hurt every time you have a wax. The good news is that the pain is short and sharp, and by the time you’re back home or back at work, the pain will be gone. If you’re worried about pain, then we suggest you take a painkiller an hour or so before your appointment. Also, don’t have a wax a week before and during your period, as the pain will be more than usual! Is it embarrassing? Whilst you will need to strip off (we can’t wax you with your knickers on!), the embarrassment factor will be at a minimum. In some other waxing places they still make you kneel on all fours, or wrap your legs round the beautician’s neck, but we’ve got a far less embarrassing technique. Remember, we’re professionals and have been doing this for many years, and will do our best to relax you and put you at ease. Quite simply, you don’t have anything we haven’t seen before! What’s the difference between a Brazilian wax and a Hollywood wax? The terms are often used inter-changeably, but technically a Hollywood wax leaves the whole area bare, while a Brazilian wax leaves a small, vertical strip - often referred to as a “landing strip”. We’ll discuss which style you’d like before your first wax. We’d normally remove hair from your labia and buttocks - please let us know if you don’t want this. Can’t I just do it myself? No, we strongly recommend against this. This is a very painful area, plus it’s hard to reach, so there’s a good chance that if you do it yourself it will be extremely painful and you’ll end up with ugly purple bruising. How long will my Brazilian wax last? The wax will last three to four weeks, and we recommend that you are waxed at four week intervals. This will make the waxing procedure a lot quicker, and significantly less painful! Are there any side effects? Or will I be de-sensitised “down there”? It’s common to have some redness immediately after the wax, but this will be gone by the following morning. You won’t be de-sensitised - quite the opposite in fact. Which is good news for any bedroom antics, but it will mean that every wax will hurt just as much. Hints and tips for your Brazilian wax appointment...

Perfect if you're fed up with waxing, as you can now have those pesky pubes zapped with minimal pain, yet the results will last for years. IPL (intense pulsed light) can reduce hair from this delicate area and has the benefit of no more ingrown hairs. The hair is removed by controlled flashes of light, which is absorbed by the hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin. It’s the pigment in the hair shaft that absorbs the light. The resulting heat damages each follicle and disables it. The dead hair shaft appears to grow and then fall out: this may take a week or more. The number of treatments depends on skin and hair type, colour and thickness. Most people require between five and eight sessions. Treatments should be at four week intervals, to treat hairs at all stages of the growth cycle.
